Forms of Child Care Settings
Child Care Center: Child Care Centers include day care centers, preschools, nursery schools, and Head Start Programs. All centers need a license with the state.
Group Child Care Home: Homes in which two or more adults provide care for up to 12 children. These homes require a license with the state.
Family Child Care Homes: Homes where one adult cares for one to six children. Family child care homes must be licensed with the state.
Relative Care Provider: A child’s relative provides care in his or her home. In order to qualify for reimbursements through DHS, relative providers must be at least 18 years old and registered with the Department of Human Services.
Day Care Aide: A person you employ to care for your child(ren) in your home. Aides must be at least 18 years old and registered with the Department of Human Services to qualify for reimbursements.
